Emotional Freedom Technique
What is Emotional Freedom Technique?
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an evidence-based practice rooted in the field of energy psychology. It combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure therapy, and the physical stimulation of acupressure points on the face and body. This technique, commonly known as “tapping,” begins with a “Set-up Statement” which acknowledges the problem while promoting self-acceptance. Numerous studies, including random controlled trials, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses, have validated EFT's effectiveness for both psychological and physiological conditions.

Research indicates that EFT is a safe, cost-effective, and easily learnable tool that significantly reduces stress, anxiety, and burnout symptoms. An increasing number of studies highlight its benefits in healthcare settings for both professionals and students. Evaluated by the American Psychological Association's standards, these studies predominantly focus on psychological outcomes, though physiological effects are also being explored. For instance, a study using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) found that EFT not only reduced pain and somatic symptoms but also increased happiness and life satisfaction.
